Diabetic Foot Treatment in Istanbul for International Patients
How international patients can get a diabetic foot assessment in Istanbul: first contact, records to send, travel planning and follow-up at home.
Many patients with diabetic foot problems look for a second opinion or treatment outside their own country. Istanbul is easy to reach and has many hospitals with multidisciplinary teams. This page explains how an international patient can start.
Step by step
- First contact. Message us on WhatsApp with a short summary, photos of the wound and your latest reports.
- Remote review. We review the information and advise on urgency and whether a visit is needed.
- Travel planning. If you should come, we agree on a realistic timeframe. If the situation is urgent, we do not recommend delaying care for travel arrangements.
- Assessment in Istanbul. Examination, tests and a treatment plan involving other specialists when needed.
- Follow-up. A plan for continuing care with your doctor at home, including what to monitor.
What to send
- Photos of the wound (good light, whole wound and surrounding skin)
- Reports and images: X-ray, MRI, CT, Doppler/angiography
- Blood and culture results; current medications
- Previous operation notes and discharge summaries (in English or Turkish if possible)
Safety first
If you have fever, rapidly spreading redness, black skin or severe pain, go to the nearest emergency department where you are now. Do not wait to travel.
Frequently asked questions
Can I be assessed before I travel?
A remote preliminary review of your photos and reports is possible. It guides whether travel is needed and how urgent it is, but it does not replace an examination.
How long should I plan to stay?
It depends on the condition: a single assessment may take days, while treatment of infection or surgery needs longer. We discuss a realistic plan after reviewing your records. Do not book non-refundable travel before that.
What languages are supported?
Turkish and English.
Is the cost known in advance?
Costs depend on the assessment, hospital stay and procedures needed, so a reliable figure can only be given after your situation is reviewed. We aim to explain the plan and expected components before you commit.
This page is for general information only and does not replace an examination, diagnosis or treatment. In an emergency, call your local emergency number or go to the nearest emergency department.
